Zoom latest version 5.0 features update

Popular video calling software Zoom is up to version 5.0. The platform, which has been criticized for its data breaches in the past month, is slashing its security. 

CEO Eric Yuan announced some time ago that Zoom would focus on security and privacy of its platform for a few weeks and we should see that in the update. This after the app was regularly in the news because of the many problems that were raised. 

Zoom latest Version 5.0 groups several security features under its own menu and gives you the ability to quickly lock meetings, lock participants at the door, and prevent lame pranksters from sharing their screen or chatting. A milestone, Zoom calls it, is the rollout of version 5.0, which includes improved encryption (AES 256-bit GCM, not yet the promised end-to-end) and the option for companies to choose which data centers are used to send video calls. This after questions were raised about the use of data centers in China, where it was doubted whether it was possible to watch or listen in. 

In addition to the improved and updated zoom network functions, Zoom in version 5 of the app also comes with a series of previously announced features. The button under which all admin options can be found is now placed more prominently, making the functions for admins of a call easier to use.  A Zoom session will now also require a password by default. This should prevent the IDs of unsecured calls from being placed on the internet and a conversation being full of trolls in no time.The so-called waiting room, where the administrator has to admit people to the meeting and so they cannot just barge in, was already enabled by default. 

The functions mainly seem to be an answer to so-called 'Zoombombing', where a miscreant invades a meeting and takes over the screen with, usually, something pornographic or shocking. Zoom will also increase the encryption of its conversations. It now uses AES 256-bit GCM encryption, although it is not yet deployed end-to-end. 

As previously reported, corporate customers will also be able to specify through which data centers, or regions, they send their communications. These functions must (partly) refute previous criticisms and it is possible to listen in on business conversations via Zoom. 

Not only Zoom latest features includes the above mentioned updates but it has also introduced the new Phone tab system in zoom. Facilities listed below is provided by this new Phone tab feature of Zoom app latest version.
